Application for Inter – University Transfer 2017/2018 Academic Session

OFFICE OF THE REGISTRAR

GUIDELINES FOR CONSIDERATION OF APPLICATION FOR INTER-UNIVERSITY TRANSFER, 2017/2018 ACADEMIC SESSION

  1. Transfer students shall possess the minimum University of Nigeria and Departmental entry requirements prior to entry into the university from where they are seeking transfer.
  2. Transfer students shall make a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.95 on a 5.00 point scale to quality for consideration and should not have spent more than two (2) academic sessions in his or her former university.
  3. The number of students offered admission by transfer shall not exceed 4% of the departmental admission quota in any one year.
  4. Application should be accompanied by student’s transcript. University of Nigeria official(s) would be sent to the University from where transfer is being sought for verification of the transcript or on-line verification as the case may be,
  5. If at any stage irregularity is discovered in the papers presented by the student(s), such student(s) shall be withdrawn from the university.
  6. Disciplinary action shall be taken against any officer of the University found colluding with or circumventing the process of the transfer.
  7. A transfer student is required to possess a JAMB score which is not less than the minimum score of UNN students admitted into his department in his admission year.
  8. He must transfer into the same course as he studied in his university.
  9. Transfer student must not be admitted beyond second (2nd) year for all programmes in the university.
  10. A transfer student must be a current student of the University from which he seeks transfer.
  11. All application for Inter – University Transfer for the 2017/2018 academic session should be received on or before 15th September, 2017.
  12. All recommendations for admission by transfer from Faculty shall be submitted to the Admission Office for collation and presentation to Senate Entrance Board for consideration.

 APPLICATION PROCEDURE

  1. Visit the University of Nigeria website (unn.edu.ng) or portal (unnportal.edu.ng), log in your Telephone Number to generate and download a unique Payment Invoice for Application Processing Fee. Pay the application fee of N195,000.00 through Remita payment platform at any Commercial Bank. You are to generate a payment invoice which contains a Remita number; the invoice print out will enable you to make your payment at the bank.
  2. Visit the University of Nigeria website or portal (unn.edu.ng or unnportal.edu.ng) again and log in your Telephone number and Invoice numbers, and then complete the Inter-University Transfer Form online.
  3. Print the last page of the form and forward to your current University Registrar for completion to confirm release from your current University.
  4. Attach the release form to the Application form and upload.
  5. Candidates should note that any form which is not completed on-line will not be processed.

Online application commences on Monday 31st July, 2017 and ends on Friday 15th September, 2017.

This is to inform all concerned candidates that the 2017/2018 Supplementary Postgraduate Admission Computer Based Screening Test of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka has been scheduled to take place as follows:

 

Date:             Friday, November 10, 2017

Venue:          Nnamdi Azikiwe Library, U.N.N.

Time:             10.00a.m.

 

Candidates are required to come with their downloaded application forms and white sheets of paper and pen.

 

Those who could not participate in the earlier screening test owing to lack of information on the dates for the screening test are permitted to participate in the supplementary screening test.

Applications are urgently invited from both ACADEMIC AND NON-ACADEMIC staff of the University of Nigeria for training programmes locally (NIGERIAN UNIVERSITIES) & AFRICAN UNIVERSITIES preferably South Africa under the NEEDS ASSESSMENT PROGRAMME.

DIGNITY OF MAN DEBATE–57th Founders’ Day Celebration

 

Dignity of Man Debate is an annual Debate Championship in commemoration of the University of Nigeria Founders’ Day. The Debate is based on the British Parliamentary system. It is aimed at promoting critical thinking, advocacy and public speaking skills among our students.

 

Applications are hereby invited from students of the University of Nigeria who may wish to participate in the Debate scheduled to hold on October 4, 2017.

 

In line with the British Parliamentary Debate System, applicants are expected to:

 

  1. Constitute themselves into teams, and apply as such.
  2. Each team shall comprise two persons.
  3. The Department and phone numbers of team members should be indicated.

 

Entries for the debate are to be sent to onochie.agudosi@unn.edu.ng before Monday, 18th September, 2017.

Compulsory Workshop For 2016/2017 Postgraduate Students

COMPULSORY WORKSHOP FOR 2016/2017 POSTGRADUATE STUDENTS  

The is to inform all  postgraduate  students, admitted  for the 2016/2017 academic session,  that  there will be compulsory postgraduate workshop on the courses  PGC 601 and PGC 701 for Master’s and Ph.D degree students. The workshop, meant for students in Nsukka and Enugu campuses, is scheduled to take place as follows:

Date: 12th -13th October, 2017: for Master’s and Ph.D students in Nsukka Campus

Venue: Nnamdi Azikiwe Library, UNN.

19th – 20th October, 2017: for Master’s and Ph.D students in Enugu Campus

Venue: Enugu Campus CEMAC Hall.

Concerned students are expected to pay the sum of Six Thousand Naira (N6,000.00) only. They are to generate payment invoice from the university’s portal and make the payment in any commercial bank.

Opening ceremony

Opening ceremony for the workshop will take place by 10.00am at the Princess Alexandra Auditorium, Nsukka Campus. After the ceremony, manual registration for the workshop will continue at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Library, UNN and CEMAC Hall, UNEC.

The manual registration will commence on 12th October, 2017 from 8.00am for Nsukka Campus, while that of UNEC will start from 8.00am on 19th October, 2017

Please note that registration and participation in the workshop is prerequisite for graduation.

PHD RESEARCH PAPER WRITING WORKSHOP

As part of the University’s effort to encourage and support students who are at the writing stage of their theses and want to get papers published in Journals listed in ISI Web of Science [Thomson Reuters) and Scopus, the School of Postgraduate Studies of University of Nigeria, in collaboration with the Demography and Population StudiesProgramme, University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa, will be organizing a three-day writing workshop for  PhD students at the writing stage of their theses.

During the workshop, PhD students, who are writing up their theses or would want to extract papers from their theses, will focus exclusively on writing skills and publication processes. Experienced discipline-based facilitators will be available to guide the students and review write-ups to be produced by the student participants.

Date and Venue: October 12-14, 2017; Venue: UNN Main Campus

Date and Venue: October 18-20, 2017; Venue: UNN Enugu Campus

Potential Outcomes: Completion of PhD Thesis; Translating PhD theses to publishable manuscripts; preparing for Special Journal Volumes and Publishing of completed manuscripts in credible Journals.
