Joachim Chinweike Omeje is an Associate Professor of Counselling Education at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He obtained his professional training at the University of Nigeria, receiving a Bachelor of Education degree in 1992 with a Second Class Honours Upper Division, Master of Education in 1996 and a Ph.D in 2000.
His research interest spans a wide range of Education, Adolescence sexuality, gender inequality, family counselling, cultural issues, social and environmental policy issues. I have published and supervised many doctorial works in the area of sexuality and health of adolescence.
Associate Professor Omeje has consulted for World Bank/STEP B on monitoring and Evaluation for South East Zone Nigeria 2012 and Niger State, Nigeria 2013. He has acted as a resource person for FGN/Universal Basic Education (UBE) Teachers Professional Development Programme held at Enugu State Nigeria, May 2011, (1st Phase), October 2011 (2nd Phase), Bayelsa State Nigeria June 2011 (1st Phase), November 2011 (2nd Phase). I have also acted as a facilitator at different fora for UNICEF Zone A on harmonizing SEEDS with state plans for Orphan and Vulnerable children, August 2007; on emergency preparedness and response in Education for Education Officers in ‘A’ field office October 2007, on the use of integrated early childhood development curriculum August 2007; in a 4 day training of data collectors in Non-formal Education by Agency for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-formal Education in collaboration with UNICEF ‘A’ field office May 2010. He has also acted as a resource person on a 3 day basic Education workshop on bottlenecks analysis for UNICEF Zone A field Office September 2011. Also served as a facilitator for Org-learning consult professional Development USA in Collaboration with Faculty of Education University of Nigeria, Nsukka in enhancing Teacher Competence Trainer-of Trainers Workshop April 2008. A resource person on a two day Workshop/Retreat on refocusing the principalship for the transformation of the Secondary Education System in Enugu State Nigeria July 2009. He has also acted as a resource person on Capacity building workshop on skills of teaching and Record keeping for Secondary School Administration and Management by Ebonyi State Nigeria Universal Basic Education Board October 2009. Associate Professor Omeje has held several positions in Faculty of Education University of Nigeria, Nsukka such Member Library Board Committee; Curriculum Committee, Postgraduate Committee; Environmental Committee among others. He has published over 60 research papers in Scholarly Journals both national and International and has presented over 20 papers in Scientific Conferences. He is also a member of Several Professional bodies, some of which are Counselling Association of Nigeria (CASSON); Nigerian Council of Education psychologist (NCEP).
