Biography :

 With a Higher School Certificate (3 papers) in 1986, Prof. Oluikpe gained a direct entry admission in 1986 into the University of Nigeria where she obtained the following degrees and diploma: BA (Combined Honours- Linguistics/ Igbo Studies), 1989; Postgraduate Diploma in Education, 1993; MEd (Language Education), 1997; PhD (Language Education), 2004. In addition, She has obtained the following postdoctoral certificates: Professional Development Training Certificate for Training of English Language Teachers (British Council in collaboration with National Teachers’ Institute, Kaduna), 2007; Professional Development Training Certificate in Teacher Enhancement (OrgLearning Consult, USA in collaboration with the University of Nigeria), 2008.

She joined the services of the University of Nigeria as an Assistant Lecturer in the Use of English Unit of the School of General Studies in 1998 and was transferred to the Department of Arts Education in 2004 from where she rose to the current position of Senior Lecturer in 2005. Her research interest include: early childhood communication, second language writing, English language teaching with special interest in phonics and phonetics, second language acquisition and learning, and Igbo language research. She teaches postgraduate courses in Theories of Language Development and Seminar in Language Education and supervise at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Language Education. She has published widely in both national and international journals in the area of second language writing, focusing on problems of Nigerian students in writing in English and have served as the editor, International Journal of Arts and Technology Education based at the Department of Arts Education, University of Nigeria.

As a specialist in training of English language teachers and teacher enhancement strategies, She has served as a resource person for all the training and retraining of primary and secondary school teachers in the South-east geopolitical zone of Nigeria for the MDGs workshops in English language teaching in the area of Phonics and Phonetics of English. She is currently the head of department (HOD) of Arts Education department
