Sustainable Building Research Group

FACULTY OF ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES

DEPARTMENT OF ARCHITECTURE RSEARCH GROUPS

  1. Name: Sustainable Building Research Group

Goal: To promote holistic research that will address the challenges of making buildings sustainable and effective places in which to live and work. The aim is to help achieve sustainability and reduction of carbon emissions in our built environment.

Focus: Four basic areas of focus; in-depth experimental and theoretical analysis of the thermal design of buildings; develop architectural design tools to facilitate the inclusion of energy efficiency throughout the design phase of buildings that will lead to reduction of water use, energy and carbon emissions; investigation of day to day behaviour of building occupants in-order to improve the effectiveness of building use and design and improvement of environmentally sustainable technologies; development of prototype and test sustainable building technologies and design for both commercial and residential buildings.
