Main Research Focus of the RG:

  1. Mainstream and bring gender issues to the fore in the University of Nigeria and help create an institutional platform for human resources development/capacity building on gender related research and action.
  2. Maintain a database of gender-based information and activities in Nigeria and UNN

iii. Run analysis of gender based information and activities for evidence-based policy advising.

  1. advance and remain at the frontiers of the knowledge needed for mainstreaming gender in policy formulations and implementations at all levels and sectors of the country’s governance and economy.
  2. Work with the Federal ministry of women affairs and other ministries and Gender desks to contribute to national development.
  3. Conduct relevant contemporary Gender and related researches and participate actively in global, continental and national development issues.

  • PROFESSOR ANTHONIA ACHIKE is a Professor of Agricultural Economics, University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN). Also, a global/Adjunct faculty member of the Trade Policy Training Centre in Africa (Trapca), Arusha-Tanzania. She holds a PhD degree in Agricultural Economics, specializing in Agricultural Finance and Project Analysis. Currently, Prof Achike is the Director of the Gender and Development Policy Centre (GEN-CENT) of University of Nigeria Nsukka, the team leader of Nigeria’s Community Based Poverty Monitoring System (CBMS- Nigeria), UNN Focal Point for the Alliance for the African Partnership (AAP) and the Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM).   • PROFESSOR ELSIE UMEANO is a lecturer in the Department of Educational Foundations and a Professor of Educational Psychology in the University of Nigeria.
