Main research focus and other areas of research interest of the RG: The Applied Energy, Economics and Environment (AEEE) Research Group is a multi-disciplinary energy research group, based in the University of Nigeria. The research focus for the group includes Modelling and Performance Evaluation of Energy Systems, Design and Development of Energy & Process Systems, Condition Monitoring of Energy Systems, Cleaner Productions, Energy Policy Development & Analysis, Energy Management, Environmental Impact Assessment of energy systems, Energy Economics, Energy Financing, Energy Access, and etc.

Prof. Samuel Ogbonna Enibe is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering in the University of Nigeria, Nsukka with over three decades of experience from across the world in the engineering field. He obtained his bachelor of Engineering honours degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) in 1982, M.Sc. In Alternative Energy from the University of Reading, England in 1986 and Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 1995. His professional career started at the National Centre for Energy Research and Development with parallel appointment in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at University of Nigeria, Nsukka, as Graduate Assistant from1983–1986. (glasshousefarms.org) He has been a Professor of Mechanical Engineering, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, since 2003. He has benefited from several scholarships which include; Scholarship of the United Africa Company (UAC) of Nigeria Plc 1977–1982, British Council Fellowship held for 12 months at the University of Reading, England, 1985–1986,
International Foundation For Science (IFS)/King Baudouin Award (1996),
Joint Fellowship of the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Trieste, Italy and the Italian Agency for New Technologies, Energy and the Environment (ENEA) held for 12 months at the Casaccia Research Centre of ENEA in Rome, Italy, 1995–1996, Academic Exchange Fellowship of the African Network of Scientific & Technological Institutions, Nairobi, Kenya held at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana, 2000. He served as Dean, Faculty of Engineering, UNN from 2014 to 2016.

Prof. Godwin O. Unachukwu is the Deputy Director of the Institute of Climate Change Studies, Energy & Environment, University of Nigeria Nsukka (ICCSEE-UNN); Research Team Lead & Staff – Renewable Energy Systems & Energy Conservation, Africa Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Energy and Power Development (ACE-SPED) University of Nigeria and the Head of Programmes – Energy Policy, Regulation and Management (EPRM) & Management of Technology and Innovation (MoTI) Africa Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Power & Energy Development (ACE-SPED). He was a former Acting Director of The National Centre for Energy Research & Development, Energy Commission of Nigeria, University of Nigeria. He has a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nigeria, an MEng in Fuel & Energy Engineering from the University of Port-Harcourt, and a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Chemistry from the University of Nigeria. He teaches the following graduate-level courses: Energy Management, Introduction to Energy Policy and Analysis; Energy Management Systems and Policy in the Industry, Renewable Energy Financing and Portfolio Standards; Green Energy Policy and Planning, Case Studies of Energy Incentive Programmes, and Conceptual and Policy Issues in Sustainability.
Dr. Patrick Udeme-obong Akpan is a Senior Lecturer with the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Nigeria. His expertise covers: design, modelling and thermal performance evaluation of conventional and renewable energy systems and power plants; energy system integration; energy audit; energy management and deployment; measurement and instrumentation; Energy resources and sustainable energy development; refrigeration and air-conditioning systems, and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of product systems using OpenLCA Software. He has a PhD in Mechanical Engineering (specializing in Power Plant Engineering) from the University of Cape Town in South Africa, an MSc in Process Systems Engineering (specializing in Energy Systems and Thermal processes) from Cranfield University United Kingdom and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nigeria. He also reviews papers for Scientific and Engineering Journals such as Energy Conversion and Management, Energy, Nijotech, and etc. He has gained proficiency in the use of different engineering softwares in his previous and current research projects. These include: Python, Ansys Fluent, MATLAB, WANDA Transient, Excel, System Advisor Model, Virtual Plant, EPANET etc. His spoken and written English language skills are good

Dr. Anthony Orji is a Ph.D holder in Economics and a lecturer at the Department of Economics, University of Nigeria Nsukka. He is equally an Alumnus of the African Programme on Rethinking Development Economics (APORDE), Johannesburg, South Africa and a former Visiting Scholar to the University of Laval, Quebec, Canada. He has published widely and attended several professional conferences. He is a network member of many research organisations across the globe and has participated in several research projects funded by the following institutions: World Bank (Research on African Migration Project); Partnership for Economic Policy (PEP), University of Laval, Quebec-Canada; African Economic Research Consortium (AERC), Nairobi-Kenya, Centre for Environmental Economics and Policy in Africa (CEEPA) South Africa; African Export and Import (AFREXIM) Bank; GIZ, Germany and many others. His research interests is in Development Economics, Energy Economics, Macroeconomics, Monetary Economics, Finance and Resource Mobilization, Cross border flows and Trade, Public Sector Economics, Growth and Poverty Reduction, Gender Economics and Regional Integration and he has published in these areas.

Dr. Jonathan E. Ogbuabor is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Economics, University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) and Coordinator, Public-Private Partnership at the UNN Centre for Business Development (UNCBD). He is an expert in modeling macroeconomic asymmetries, especially in global energy markets. His expertise also covers the modeling of financial and macroeconomic connectedness. His working experience spans lecturing, banking, credit administration, risk management, and financial reporting and analysis. He holds a PhD in Economics from UNN; an MSc in Economics from the University of York, United Kingdom; an MSc in Economics and an MBA in Banking & Finance both from the Enugu State University of Science & Technology (ESUT), Enugu; and a First Class Honours BSc degree in Computer Science & Statistics from UNN. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), a member of the Institute of Credit Administration, Nigeria (ICA), and an ICAN certified International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) expert.

Winnie Arazu is a Lecturer in the Department of Economics, University of Nigeria. She obtained a Masters Degree from the same Department in 2019. She has served her Department in various capacities – as Member, National Universities Commission Accreditation Committee; Member, Examinations Committee and presently as the Librarian, a position she has occupied for years. Winnie has work experience in both the Private Sector and presently in the Public Sector. She served in the Private Sector for years where she rose to the position of Personal Assistant to the President/CEO Archive Global Management Ltd.
