General Information and Academic Programme

The Department offers a five-year standard programme leading to Bachelor of Science in Estate Management.

Philosophy, Objectives and Scope

Estate Management is concerned with the valuation, taxation, development and utilization of land and resources, buildings and other structures on land.
The programme is designed to prepare a student academically for professional practice in land management, land use planning and land development, land reform, land settlement, real estate taxation and rating valuation, aspects of town and country planning, valuation, investment/development schemes and feasibility/viability appraisals.

Job Opportunities

The subject of Estate Management is fundamental to the social and economic development and well being of every society. A degree in Estate Management equips the holder to provide high level professional services in both the public and private sectors of the economy, so much so that no country has yet ever succeeded in providing enough graduates in the field, such as Estate Surveyors and Valuers, Land Officers, Premises Managers in Banks, Directors of Properties in Parastatals, Rating Surveyors, etc., in public or private institutions.
