I am a professor of Water Resources and Environmental Engineering and passion for research is my major driver. Since 2007 when I was formally engaged at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, I have been actively involved in teaching, research and university administration. My research acumen has been demonstrated by numerous peer-reviewed articles published in reputable journals. I have also participated in many learned conferences and workshops. Some of my key achievements are as follows:
- As Head of Department, I conceived and successfully organised the first international conference hosted by the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Nigeria, Nsukka in its over fifty years of existence.
- As Head of Department for one year, I successfully executed the following projects for the Department through consultancy and alumni interventions
- Installation of 5kVA solar unit
- Installation of 16 channels CCTV unit for classrooms and examination halls.
- Provision of internet access to staff and students
- Complete renovation of 5 toilet units, with booster pump, overhead tank, hand dryer and urinary bowl
- Establishment of computer centre
- Payment of tuition fee for four undergraduate students
- Produced the first e-newsletter of the Department since inception
- Best graduating undergraduate student in 2005 and best graduating master’s student in 2007.
- Successfully supervised over fifty undergraduate project students, nine master’s students, and currently supervising over ten masters’ and five Ph.D students.
- Organized over fifty postgraduate proposal and defence seminars while serving as Postgraduate Coordinator.
- Has organized and presided over thirty Ph.D oral examinations both as Postgraduate Coordinator and later as Head of Department
- Successfully computed and compiled the cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of over two hundred final year students for three consecutive years as Examination Officer, while delivering undergraduate course lectures and undertaking my Ph.D research concurrently.

As a senior lecturer in Water Resources and Environmental Engineering, my passion for research drives my work. I have been actively engaged in teaching, research, and university administration since I joined the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 2016. My research contributions are evident in several peer-reviewed articles published in respected journals. Additionally, I have participated in numerous learned conferences and workshops to broaden my knowledge and network with peers in my field. Some notable achievements include:
- Graduated second in class in 2010, and first in Masters in 2014.
- Served as Examination Officer for four years (2017-2020), responsible for computing and compiling the CGPA of over 150 final year students for three consecutive years.
- Served as Post Graduate program Coordinator for one year (2020-2021), responsible for organizing and presiding over 15 Ph.D and Masters oral examinations, as well as supervising over fifty undergraduate project students.
- Actively involved in organizing the first international conference organized by Civil Engineering Department, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, titled “Resilient Infrastructure Built Environment Conference.”
- Participated in various administrative activities for the department and served in several ad hoc committees at the faculty level.
- Successfully delivered undergraduate course lectures and undertook Ph.D research concurrently.
- Conducting innovative research in Water Resources and Environmental Engineering, which has been published in top-tier journals and presented at prestigious conferences.

Dr Ogechi Lilian ALUM, 40 years, a Nigeria in Chemistry Discipline and Doctoral Field, Analytical/Environmental Chemistry from University of Nigeria, Nsukka, 2019. She is a Lecturer in the Department of Pure and Industrial Chemistry since June 2016 at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka; Research Assistant (NCERD), 2010; Quality Control Officer University Water Resources 2013-2016; Environmental Assessor 2015-Date.
She has carried out research project(s) on ground and surface waters in rural areas of South-eastern Nigeria.
She is a member of Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN), Member Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD), Student Member Public Analysts of Nigeria (IPAN).
Her research ambition(s) for Africa includes studies on water quality in rural areas with emphasis on the risks, toxic and health implications; partnering with youths on water treatments using available local materials, drawing the attention of the environmental regulatory agencies with evidence of this study to the human concern within the vicinity, advising farmers on best agricultural practices and campaign against open defecation. Using the study as a framework for planning, further assessment, monitoring, and aid for Environmental Impact Assessment.
Some of my key achievements are as follows:

I am a lecturer II in the department of Civil Engineering, University of Nigeria. I was appointed as a graduate assistant in 2017, I have been actively involved in teaching, research and university administration. My research and teaching interests are in water and wastewater engineering, water resource engineering, water sanitation and hygiene (WASH) environmental impact and risk assessment of polluants on public health, solid waste management. I co-authored some peer-reviewed articles published in reputable journals. I have also participated in various academic conferences and workshops. Some of my key achievements and details are as follows:
DISTINCTIONS AND ACHIEVEMENT
- The first (1st) female to graduate with a B.Eng (First Class Honours) in the history of the department of Civil Engineering, University of Nigeria Nsukka and the second best graduating student in a class of 92. 2014
- I graduated with a distinction in M.Eng(Water resources Engineering) ranking me among the first 2% in my class. 2021
- Shortlisted as the first out of four students in UNN for the Erasmus Mundus Mobility program in Spain. However, I did not take the offer since I had completed my MEng, program at the time. 2021
