ABSTRACT:
The deactivation behaviour of palladium deposited on carbon catalysts has been examined in the gas phase acetoxylation of ethylene at 420 K. An interstitial palladium carbide phase which is formed on the surface of the catalyst seems to be associated with the poisoning of the catalyst during the reaction.
