THE DEN’S SPEECH COMPETITION

The University Advancement Centre is organising a maiden Public Lecture on the Theme: Rebuilding Educational Value System for Sustainable Advancement.

Part of the programme marking the event of the Public Lecture is the Den’s Speech Competition. Sequel to the above, each Department is expected to fill and submit the name of one student who would represent the Department. The audition would be held as scheduled below.

The participants are advised to arrive at the venue an hour before the time scheduled for the faculty, as the topic for the speech will be provided 30 minutes before the commencement of the audition. Participants are therefore, encouraged to bring along any device or material that would aid their success (internet enabled Smartphone, laptop etc).

The best candidate in each faculty would be invited to the next stage where they will compete with other faculty best, and subsequently the best three students will be selected for the Public Lecture scheduled to take place on Wednesday November 20, 2019.

Every department is therefore, kindly requested to fill and submit the attached form and return same to the centre on or before Friday August 30, 2019.

Note: All final year students are not eligible to participate in this competition.

INVITATION TO INTER-UNIVERSITIES SPEECH CONTEST ON AML/CFT IMPACT ON WEST AFRICA ECONOMIES

The University of Nigeria Community is hereby invited to the Inter-Universities Speech Contest on Anti-Money Laundry and Counter-Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) Impact on West Africa Economies. The Contest is organised by the Inter-Governmental Action Group Universities Against Money Laundry in West Africa (GIABA). The Speech Contest is a platform for promoting knowledge of AML/CFT regimes and exchange of ideas on topical issues by directing the enormous power of human knowledge as a transformative force for the development of Member States.

GIABA is a specialized institution of ECOWAS which has identified youths as important segment in the fight against money laundry and corruption.

Participating Universities at the Speech Contest include:

• University of the Gambia, Banjul, The Gambia
• University of Ghana, Legon, Accra, Ghana
• University of Liberia, Monrovia, Liberia
• University of Nigeria, Enugu, Nigeria, and
• University of Sierra Leone, Freetown, Sierra Leone

This year’s edition of the Contest will be hosted by University of Nigeria on August 06, 2019 at the Main Hall, University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus. Time: 9 am.
