CALL FOR ENTRIES
INVITATION FOR ENTRIES TO THE NIGERIA FOR SCIENCE, 2017 EDITION
The Advisory Board of the Nigeria Prize for Science sponsored by Nigeria LNG Limited is happy to announce the commencement and Call for Entries of the 2017 competition of The Nigeria Prize for Science.
The Nigeria Prize for Science aims to encourage and reward excellence in scientific research and innovations that help to solve a pre-identified Nigerian problem. The prize is awarded annually and features a $100,000 (One Hundred Thousand Dollars) prize money.
In 2017, the competition theme is “Innovations in Malaria Control.”
This is therefore to invite applications and nominations for the award from interested faculty and students of the University who are involved in Malaria research and Control Initiatives.
The application window opened in March 2017 and will close on May 12, 2017.

ESEFA Train the Trainer SAP TRAINING: SUCCESS STORY
The Enterprise System Education for Africa (ESEFA) training was held 12th – 16th December in Kumasi, Ghana, at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) with six delegates from University of Nigeria Nsukka and Enugu campuses namely:

Dr. Mrs. Imabong Nnam [Department of Accountancy, UNEC]
Mrs. Ogechi Shadamoro [ICT, UNN]
Mrs. Helen N. Okpala [UNN Library]
Mr. Nnajiofor Eneh [Dean’s Office, Faculty of Business Administration]
The training was aimed at introducing lecturers and other participants to Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) concepts using ESEFA materials as well as familiarizing them with all the materials and resources available through ESEFA program as well as SAP (Software Application Products) University Alliance (UA) membership. The training comprised lessons and workshops which involved hands-on with the SAP GUI which exposed participants to understanding of SAP practical application to business processes using existing business scenarios.
At the end of the training, there was a record of success which qualified University of Nigeria to secure her SAP Client license to enable organization of training and certifications in the University. Consequently, on 13th – 17th March, 2017, the maiden edition of the ESEFA/SAP UA ES Fundamentals training was held at University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus with about 14 participants from within and outside Enugu state. Particularly, there were participants from Abuja and Umuahia who took part in the training. The short course was advertised via the University website, handbills and radio jingles. The exam which was held on 20th March, 2017 recorded 71% success. Subsequent batches of training and exams are coming up in May 2017 at UNEC and UNN, respectively

The second training will be held in Nsukka and Enugu campuses in May, 2017 with target participants as final year students, postgraduates and lecturers
UNESCO Chair for Science, Technology and Engineering Education at the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow
What is it about?
Deadline for submission of applications should be on or before 14 April 2017 at the latest with advance copy by email.
With a view to promoting human resource capacities in the developing countries and to enhancing international understanding and friendship among nations and the people of Poland, the Polish National Commission for UNESCO and the UNESCO Chair for Science, Technology and Engineering Education at the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow have placed at the disposal of certain Member States (see Annex I) forty (40) fellowships of six (6) months duration each, in Poland, starting on 2 October 2017. The beneficiaries of these fellowships will be given the opportunity to undertake an individual research programme in the field of Science, Technology and Engineering. THE UNIVERSITY OF NIGERIA, NSUKKA ENTERS INTO MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH THE GUANGXI ACADEMY OF SCIENCES, CHINA.
The University of Nigeria, Nsukka has entered into Collaboration with Guangxi Academy of Sciences, Peoples Republic of China.
The MOU to this effect was signed by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Professor B. C. Ozumba and the President of Guangxi Academy of Sciences, Professor JIN cheng at a colourful ceremony in the UNN Vice Chancellor’s conference room at the Nsukka campus of the University.
The MOU will generally promote activities in the following principal areas:
– Exchange of researchers and students
– Collaborative research and instructional programs
– Exchange of research information.
