Brief Biography

Professor Anthony A. Attama is a Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutics,

Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences,

University of Nigeria, Nsukka. His research interests include

development and formulation of novel delivery systems

of bioactive agents for the control of tropical diseases, pharmaceutical raw

materials development and quality control

of pharmaceuticals. He teaches undergraduate and masters degree

courses in Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical

Microbiology and also supervises masters and doctorate students.

He has served as internal and external examiner

for many undergraduate and postgraduate examinations in many Universities

in Nigeria. He has received many international

research grants and awards from major funding bodies such as: International

Foundation for Science (IFS) and Alexander

von Humboldt Foundation (AvH). He was on postdoctoral fellowship at

Technical University, Braunschweig, Germany.

He is a member of Editorial Board for many national and international

journals and is currently the Associate Editor,

Nanotechnology Development, Page Press, Italy. He has attended

many courses and workshops within and outside

Nigeria and has delivered many invited lectures. He has coauthored

many books, contributed many book chapters

and has many articles published in peer-reviewed journals and has attended

many conferences. He has fostered the

establishment of some pharmaceutical industries in Nigeria.

Areas Of Interest/Summary of Expertise

Main research interests include formulation of novel delivery systems of bioactive agents such as small molecule drugs, proteins, peptides and immunopharmaceuticals. Pharmaceutical nanotechnology. Pharmaceutical microbiology and neglected tropical diseases (NTDs). Pharmaceutical material sourcing and characterization, quality control of pharmaceuticals, pharmaceutical mechanochemistry and solid state pharmaceutics.
