THE ROTARACT CLUB OF UNIVERSITY OF NIGERIA DONATES ONE HUNDRED (100) BEAUTIFULLY CONSTRUCTED METALLIC WASTE BASKETS TO THE UNIVERSITY OF NIGERIA
The Rotaract Club of University of Nigeria, with Support from the Rotary Club of Nsukka makes history by donating One Hundred (100) Beautifully Constructed Metallic Waste Baskets to the University of Nigeria on the 19th of August 2020.
The Rotaract Club of University of Nigeria (with membership of over 300 students) is an International Humanitarian Organization which contributes to the society by identifying a need in her immediate community and seeks to fill it through a framework of service and fellowship. True to her nature, she identified a need in her immediate environment (The University Community) and filled it with the donation of the waste baskets. This project will improve environmental sanitation and add to the aesthetics of the University environment. This project is under one of Rotary’s seven areas of focus, which is supporting the environment.
The project was launched, by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Charles Igwe ably represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration Prof. Patrick Okpoko, at the front of the Administrative building. Also in attendance were the Dean of Student Affairs Prof. Edwin Omeje, the Public Relations Officer Chief Dr. Okwun Omeaku, Director ICT Mr. Paul Oranu, SSA to the Vice Chancellor Mr. Laz Ekeke, Confidential Secretary to the Vice Chancellor Mrs Chidinma Ambrose, Director Environment Dr. Chigbo Mgbemene ably represented, President Rotary Club of Nsukka Mr. Ayobami Odubiyi, some members of the Club (Sponsor Rotaract Club of UNN) and other members of the University community. These Waste Baskets were mounted in strategic places in the University environment.
The President Rotaract Club of UNN Rtr. Mbanugo Johnbosco Chiemerie while presenting his speech stated that the donation of the waste baskets is the Club’s way of supporting the Vice Chancellor and his Administration as well as supporting the Environment. He recognized the efforts of the Immediate Past President of the Club Rtr. Mozie Michael and his board of directors for commencing the project and handing over to him to complete and launch.
The Vice Chancellor who is an ardent supporter of a clean and healthy environment, in his remarks commended the selfless and laudable initiative and encouraged the members of the Rotaract Club of UNN to continue to support the University Administration by executing projects that will improve the lives of both staff and students on the University Campus
The Public Relations Officer Chief Dr. Okwun Omeaku, who is also a member of the Rotary Club of Nsukka encouraged members of University community to join a Rotary Club so as to enable execution of more laudable projects that will improve lives and livelihoods in the University and its environs.
All the one hundred (100) waste baskets have been installed at strategic locations on the University Campus.
