Brief Biography
Nkem B. Mgbemene is an Administrator and a Fine Artist by profession. She received the Bachelor of Arts
degree (BA Hons) in Fine and Applied Arts (Painting) from the University of Benin, Benin City in 1996, and
a Master of Fine Arts degree (MFA – a terminal degree for professional Fine Artists) from the University of
Nigeria, Nsukka in 2002. Currently, she works as an Administrative Officer and Secretary to the Institute
of African Studies, University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Prior to then, from 2002 to 2003, she worked briefly in
the Registry Department of the Enugu State Government House as a Senior Executive Office (SEO). She
was later transferred to Enugu State Board of Internal Revenue, where she served in both Tax and Motor
Licensing Offices at different times from 2004 – 2011. There she rose to the rank of Principal Executive
Officer I (PEO I) before joining the services of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in August 2011 as an
Administrator. While in the university service, she served in the Sandwich and Evening Program’s Unit and
later in the Examinations Unit of the Registrar’s Department. She attended the General Management
Course (MSD 600) of the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON) Topo, Badagry. She participates
in community service programs. She participates as a volunteer in the annual medical missions to Nigeria
of the Goodness and Mercy Foundations, Savannah Georgia, USA. She is also a member of the Special
Marshal Corps of the Federal Road Safety Corps. She is happily married with two sweet children.
