NAME OF RESEARCH GROUP: International Medical Research Network (IMRN)
BRIEF PROFILE
International Medical Research Network (IMRN) is a multi-disciplinary research organization that seeks to promote quality research activities in medical sciences. The group provides a platform for international collaboration in research and dissemination of scientific information. Members are drawn from dedicated and committed academic and non-academic faculty staff of College of Medicine and interested likeminded staff of other related faculties in the UNIVERSITY OF NIGERIA . International Medical Research Network (IMRN) maintains international collaboration in research and exchange of research information with scholars around the world.
The research group is registered with the United State System for Award Management (SAM).

OBJECTIVES OF THE RESEARCH GROUP.
The objectives of the group include:
1. To promote quality research activities in Medical Sciences.
2. To provide a platform for international collaboration in medical research.
3. To provide training and mentorship for young investigators.

1. Cardiac changes in sickle cell anaemia.
2. Cardiac autonomic neuropathy in sickle cell anaemia.
3. Pulmonary hypertension in sickle cell anaemia.
4. Cardiovascular disease prevalence studies in Nigeria.
5. Effect of Ocimum gratissimum in type 2 animal model diabetes mellitus. An ethno -pharmacology and drug development study.
6. Lipid Profile in the elderly.
7. Age related cardiovascular changes.
8. Congenital heart disease studies.
CURRENT RESEARCH EFFORTS.
1. Chronic heart failure treatment and out-come options.  International Heart Failure Registry (INTER-CHF), a prospective, international, multicenter registry of approximately 5000 patients with heart failure (HF) in Africa, Asia and South America.  The purpose of the registry is to help understand the causes, treatment, outcome and potential barriers to appropriate care for HF in these regions of the world.
