  • I   B.Sc Degree Programme in Public Administration with effect from 2001/2002 sessionII        MODE OF DURATION                       Transfer students who obtain credits or waivers that total thirty-six or more credit hours, will be allowed to spend three years on the program.                        The philosophy of the programme is to develop and promote good administration in government and private organizations. This philosophy is hinged on a provision of a broad based programme that equips students with the necessary knowledge and skills in the art and science of modern public administration.Objectives of the programme are:(a)               (b)  (c)   The scope of the programme covers the core course in the field of public administration and relevant courses in the broader discipline of political science, as well as in other social science sister disciplines, and the General Studies.   IV       ENTRY REQUIREMENTSa.                   b.                 Candidates for direct entry should possess on of the following qualifications;General Certificate of Education (A/L) passes or the equivalent in any of the following subjects; Government, History, Economics, Business Management, Accounting and Geography.Ordinary National Diploma in the relevant discipline or its equivalent at merit level.Diploma in Public Administration of the University of Nigeria (obtained with effect from 1995/96 academic year) or Higher National Diploma of recognized institutions with a minimum of merit/lower credit level pass.  Students are expected to take courses from the following departments; Economic, Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy, and History.VII      COMBINED HONOURS DEGREE          OPPORTUNITIESMINIMUM AND MAXIMUM CREDIT LOAD PER SEMESTERStress Areas

  • Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â The minimum number of courses is 15 credit loads and the maximum credit load is 24.
  •           Graduates of this programme can fit into different fields of human endeavour in both private and public sectors of the economy. The graduates can serve as Administrative and personnel officers, Planning Officers, Policy Analysis, Finance Officers, External Affairs Officers, among numerous other of spheres human endeavour.

  •         Combined courses are available in the Faculty of the Social Sciences. Such a degree involves Public Administration and any of the following disciplines; Economics, Psychology, Philosophy and Sociology/Anthropology.

  • Three-year programme (Direct Entry):
  • To be admitted, candidate shall in addition to the entry requirements of the University of Nigeria be required to have a credit in English language and a pass in Mathematics at the General Certificate of Education (0’Level) Examination or Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination or the equivalent.  Candidates are also required to have credit in English, Maths, Economics, Government or History as a pre-requisite for admission.
  • Four-year programme:
  • To produce students who would contribute their quota towards the integral development of the nation.
  • To enable students who are interested in the pursuit of higher  degrees to acquire the foundational basis necessary for such advancement; and
  • To equip the students with the comprehensive knowledge of the dynamics of the art and science of public administration.
  • (ato produce high level manpower relevant to the needs of both public and private sector bureaucracies;
  • IIIÂ Â Â Â Â Â Â PHILOSOPHY, OBJECTIVES AND SCOPE OF THE PROGRAMME
  • Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Any course offered in the first, second or third year could be chosen as elective by a student from other disciplines.
  •                        The department offers a four year and a three-year degree programmes respectively leading to award of B.Sc in Public administration.
