Abstract
Three simple equations were developed to predict the molar fractions of paraffins, naphthenes and aromatics in olefin-free light petroleum distillates of narrow boiling range. The equations are based on refractivity-intercept as the only input parameter, and can be used for any crude oil fractions with molecular weights of 90–200. The novel equations were used to determine the molar fractions of the aromatic, naphthenic and paraffinic contents of three Nigerian crude oil fractions.
