ABSTRACT:
Ten latex bearing Nigerian trees were screened for polyisoprenes: Alstonia boonei, Landolphia owariensis, Chrysophyllum albidum, Ficus pumila, F. ovata, F. elastica, F. vogelli, Funtumia elastica, F. africana and Euphorbia pulcherima. The relative yields of 1,4-polyisoprene are reported and compared with that of Hevea brasiliensis. Spectroscopic data as well as the viscosity average molecular weights are also given for these polyisoprenes.
