Biography :Aloysius Nwabugo Maduforo M.Sc, RDN is a Registered Dietitian-Nutritionist and Lecturer at Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN), Enugu State, Nigeria. He is a distinguished graduate of Imo State University (IMSU) Owerri, Imo State, Nigeria where he obtained B.Sc in Nutrition and Dietetics and graduate of University of Ghana Legon, Republic of Ghana where he obtained M.Sc in Dietetics. Aloysius graduated as the best in his class of 2009, Nutrition and Dietetics IMSU and was the first and only student to complete his M.Sc out of nine M.Sc students in the class of 2016 from Department of Nutrition and Dietetics University of Ghana Legon in the November, 2016 graduation ceremony. Aloysius is currently a Ph.D student in the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, University of Nigeria Nsukka where he is scheduled to defend his final thesis as soon as the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown is lifted. Aloysius has specialization in different areas of Nutrition including: Community Nutrition and Dietetics, Clinical Dietetics, Nutrition Education and Communication. Aloysius is presently lecturing in the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics where he has supervised more than 25 students’ undergraduate research. He is teaching or has taught the following courses both to undergraduates, postgraduate diploma and Masters students since he joined the University in February 2017: Diet Therapy and Hospital Practice I, Diet Therapy and Hospital Practice II, Medical Nutrition Therapy I, Medical Nutrition Therapy II, Maternal, Infant and Child Nutrition, Human Physiology and Pathology I, Human Physiology and Pathology II, General and Applied Nutrition, Nutrition Planning and Policy, Research Methods in Nutrition and Dietetics, and Clinical Practice. He has been actively involved in coordinating undergraduate clinical rotations, undergraduate seminars and undergraduate research proposal and defence. Nutrition Society of Nigeria and Dietitians Association of Nigeria. He has attended more than 30 professional conferences and workshops where he has presented research papers and facilitated workshops both at local and international level. He has served in various committees and leadership position. He was Editorial Team member of Nigerian Journal of Nutritional Sciences (2017 – 2019), Secretary to the Editorial Board and Journal Manager of Journal of Dietitians Association of Nigeria (2017 - date), Chairman, Faculty of Agric UNN ICT Committee (2018 to date), Member, Faculty of Agric UNN welfare Committee (2018 to date), Member, Departmental Examination Committee (2017 to date), Member, Departmental Undergraduate Seminar Committee (2017 to date), Chairman, Departmental ICT Committee (2017 to date), Chairman, Departmental Undergraduate Oral Examination (2018 to date), Member, National Nutrition COVID-19 Food Security and Nutrition Impact Committee coordinated by the Federal Ministry of Health Abuja, where we produced questionnaires for periodic assessment of Impact of COVID-19 on Food Security and Nutrition of Nigerians, Member, Nutrition Society of Nigeria Media & Communication Working Group among others. Aloysius has also served as Chairman of Local Organizing Committee of a National Conference of Dietitians held in Enugu State. Aloysius is a financial member of different professional bodies including: Nutrition Society, United Kingdom and American Society for Nutrition (ASN). Prior to joining University of Nigeria Nsukka, Aloysius has worked in a number of institutions. He worked as a Registered Dietitian-Nutritionist as a Masters student on training at 3 hospitals in Ghana from 2014 to 2016. The hospitals are: Princess Marie Louise Children Hospital Accra, 37 Military Hospital Accra Ghana and Trust Hospital Osu Accra Ghana. He worked at Power Holding Company of Nigeria Medical Centre Abuja as a Dietitian (2012 – 2014). He also worked at University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital as an Intern in the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics. Apart from Clinical positions, Aloysius has been actively involved as a monitor/supervisor for Maternal New Born and Child Health Week in Nigeria under Federal Capital Primary Health Care Board Abuja and UNICEF. He has been performing this roles since 2013 to date in Federal Capital Territory Abuja and Delta State, Nigeria. He is 36 years old and likes to teach, travel, watch football and sing. He is always happy, makes friends easily and a good team player. He has more than 40 research articles published in peer reviewed scientific journals in different areas of nutrition including questionnaire based, laboratory based and hospital based studies. He has technical/facilitation skills in mixed methods in research methods, IBM SPSS Statistics software, Microsoft Packages (power point, excel and word), proposal and manuscript writing. He has basic skills
in the use of NVIVO software, R-Statistical software and STATA software. Aloysius can work independently and as a team member with precision in meeting up with deadlines. |
