Biography : Prof. Emmanuel A. Echiegu holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural Engineering which was obtained from the Technical University of Nova Scotia, (now Faculty of Engineering, Dalhousie University) Halifax, Canada. He joined the academic staff of the Department of Agricultural and Bioresources Engineering of the University of Nigeria as a Graduate Assistant in 1983 and rose to the rank of Professor in 2018. He took a leave of absence from the University in 1994 to take up an appointment as the Chief Engineer of the then Enugu State Agricultural Development Programme (ADP), a post he held until 1996 when Ebonyi State was created. With the creation of Ebonyi State, he became the Ag. Programme Manager of Ebonyi State ADP (1996 – 1997). He was appointed the pioneer Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources (1997 – 1999), Programme Manager of Ebonyi State ADP (1999 – 2005), Commissioner for Agriculture and Food (2005 – 2007), and Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources (2007 – 2011). He rejoined the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 2012 after acquiring a 17-years field experience. He is currently the head of the department of Agricultural and Bioresources Engineering. |
