Agu, Polycarp Uchenna was born in Enugu on July 27, 1971. He is a native of Ozalla in Nkanu West local Government Area of Enugu State. His Primary and Secondary school career were at Station Primary School Agbani and Boys Secondary School Umueze Awkunanaw respectively, both in Nkanu West local Government Area of Enugu State. He proceeded to University of Calabar to study medicine and surgery, where he obtained his MB:Bch degree in 1991.
He did his residency training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and was awarded Fellow of West African College of Surgeons in April, 2008. In 2009, he was appointed Lecturer 1 in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology/Physiology, College of Medicine of the University of Nigeria, as well as Honorary Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital Ituku- Ozalla, Enugu. He is a Fellow of International College of Surgeons and has Masters in Public Health. He was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2012. He is married with children. His hobbies are reading, traveling, and listening to music.
