Biography :


Pharm. Ogochukwu N.C. Umeh is a dynamic, highly motivated, innovative, resourceful and licensed pharmacist with the knowledge and skills needed to train upcoming pharmacists, do research, practice pharmacy and effectively promote health in the tropics. She graduated from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 2005 (B.Pharm) with Dinstinctions in Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technology and Industrial Pharmacy and in 2012 (M.Pharm) also with Dinstinctions in Pharmaceutical Technology and Industrial Pharmacy. She is currently undertaking a Ph.D program in the same field. She joined the services of the University of Nigeria as a graduate assistant in 2008 and rose to the rank Lecturer II in 2012, a position she still holds. Her research interests are Drug development and drug delivery systems, excipient development and applications in drug delivery systems for conventional and modified release dosage forms, micro and nanoscience and technology of existing APIs; Powder and Tablet Technology and Quality Control. She teaches on the B.Pharm programme, supervise undergraduate student research works; undertake student assessment activities, design and manage processes in relation to student assessment, examination and feedback activities and carries out administrative tasks as assigned by her Dean or Head of Department. She has good excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to listen, engage and persuade, and to present complex information in an accessible way to a range of audiences. She founded and inaugurated a Diabetic Foundation (Offa Diabetic Foundation - 14th of Nov, 2007) in the Kwara State Specialist Hospital, Offa where she had earliar worked as a Resident Pharmacist. For this feat, she was given an “Excellence Award” by NYSC, Kwara State. She is a member of several faculty committees and has served her faculty and department in various capacities such as Executive Assistant to the Dean, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, UNN (2008-2010), Departmental Exam officer, (2008 – 2012; 2014 to date), Faculty/departmental representative on ICT matters (2009 to date), Executive Assistant to the Head, Pharmaceutical Technology and Industrial Pharmacy (2014 to date), Secretary to the Drug delivery and Nanotechnology Research unit (RUNDD) domiciled in her department (2013 - date) etc. She has a number of publications in several reputable National and International journals.
