Prof. Anika, a veterinary Surgeon, Pharmacologist and Environmental Toxicologist obtained his earlier education at the College of the Immaculate Conception, Enugu; Dennis Memorial Grammar School, Onitsha; and graduate and postgraduate degrees at the Justus Liebig University, Giessen, Wet Germany) and Cornell University, Itaca, New York, USA. He was appointed lecturer, University of Nigeria, Nsukka (1973) and became a Professor in (1987). He has trained and supervised many young academics at the M.Sc and PhD levels some of whom are professors. His coordinated projects include heavy metals (lead) and pesticides poisoning; phytotoxicology, organic compounds intoxication and chemotherapy of trypanosomiasis.
He was for several years, Head of Department, Veterinary Physiology and Pharmacology, Dean of Faculty and Consultant to Shell Petroleum Company of Nigeria Limited (SPDC), National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), National Environmental Standard and Regulation Enforcement Agency (NESREA), Enugu State Ministry of Environmental and Mineral Resources and American University of Medical Sciences among others. He was also Resource Person for the United Nations Children Fund (UNCEF) on awareness creation on environmental issues as well as environmental and toxicological consequences of gas flaring.
He is a Fellow College of Veterinary Surgeons Nigeria, Nigerian Environmental Society, Fellow, Nigerian Conservation Foundation and former Chairman, Centre for Environmental Management and Control (CEMAC), University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
He is also member American Society of Animal Scientist, New York Academy of Sciences, African Society for Toxicology Sciences and Society for Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC) among others.
He has a good command of written and spoken English and German. He has over 80 Scientific publications, 4 books and has attended and presented papers in over 30 International Conferences.
