Studio Research:

Wheel-throwing and hand-modelling abilities, especially as a means of generating forms that are then experimentally altered to arrive at new ceramic designs; Innovative use of designing as a strategy for optimum kiln-space management and fuel economy; Decoration of ceramic forms using improvised turning and scraping tools for new aesthetic looks, especially in table wares; Expansion of the conceptual possibilities in ceramic art through mixed media strategies.

Art Historical Research:

Ability to maximize archival and other resources in the reconstruction of aspects of the history of modern ceramics (i.e. improved methods using glazes, potter’s wheels and high temperature kilns) and other arts and crafts in colonial West Africa.
