HISTORY

The College of Medicine of the University of Nigeria was established as an integral part of the University under Status No. 2 of the University Act of 1978 with the approval of the Nigerian Universities Commission and further approvals of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigerian and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federation.

The Department of Medical Biochemistry in 1978 became part of the Pre-clinical department that offers courses leading to Second Professional Examination of MB.BS. The Courses offered in the Department include Introductory Biochemistry, Chemistry of Biomolecules,  Metabolism of Biomolecules and Bioenergetics; Nutritional Biochemistry, Special Topics in Biochemistry and Practical Biochemistry.
