Centre for Rural Development and Co-operatives

The Centre for Rural Development and Co-operatives, which was established in 1978, was upgraded to a research institute status in 1995. As a Service centre contributing to solving problems of rural agriculture and co-operatives, it conducts and supports research to improve living standards of rural people, offers courses and training to improve farming practice, credit administration, irrigation and management of rural co-operative through workshops and conferences.

Thus, the centre tries to train trainers and pace-setters who will eventually serve as social engineers and catalysts at the local and grassroots level in order to make self-sufficiency in food and fiber needs of the country an achievable objective.
