ABSTRACT:
The catalytic activity of mixtures of palladium and lithium acetates on carbon in the oxidation of propylene to allyl acetate was examined at temperatures between 445 and 475 K. The catalytic activity seems to lie largely in the macropores of the carbon support, and active palladium-lithium complexes in an acetic acid film near to the liquid catalyst surface on carbon appear to be involved in the reaction.
