Membrane-bound nicotinamide nucleotide transhydrogenase (EC 126.96.36.199) activity was detected in submitochondrial particles (SMP) prepared from Fasciola gigantica mitochondria.2.2. Both non-energy-linked and respiratory energy-linked transhydrogenase activities were detected.3.3. The energy-linked process was inhibited by 2,4-dinitrophenol and ATP.4.4. The energy-linked transhydrogenase activity was only slightly higher in the presence of succinate and absence of KCN than in the absence of succinate and presence of KCN.5.5. Malic enzyme (EC 188.8.131.52) activity of a crude tissue homogenate was 3–4 times more active with NAD+ than with NADP+ as coenzyme.6.6. NADH oxidase and NADH-fumarate oxidoreductase activities of the SMP were inhibited 40–60% by 100 μM rotenone.
